Biography
Fabiano Angélico is a postdoc
researcher at the GRIP (Public Integrity Research Group) at the Università
della Svizzera italiana (USI). He holds a Ph.D. in Communication Sciences from
USI and in Public Administration from the Business Administration School of São
Paulo at the Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV/EAESP) in Brazil. He also holds an
M.Sc. in Public Administration and Government from the FGV/EAESP and a BA in
Journalism from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (Brazil). In addition,
he took post-graduation studies in Law from the University of Chile.
His research focuses on governance-related issues:
open data, transparency, open government, accountability, anti-corruption, and
anti-money laundering. He is particularly interested in the potential and limitations
of open data and social accountability in countering corruption and money
laundering. He also analyses the impact of grand corruption and money
laundering, focusing on asset recovery and social reparations.
Before joining USI, Angélico worked at São Paulo
City Hall in Brazil and provided consultancy services to different
international non-profits (Transparency International, Global Integrity, CiFAR
- Civil Forum for Asset Recovery) and multilateral organizations, such as the
World Bank, UNODC, UNDP, UNESCO and EUROsociAL (program for cooperation between
the European Union and Latin America).
