Biography

Costanza Lucchini is a PhD candidate and teaching assistant at IALS (Institute of Argumentation, Linguistics and Semiotics) under the supervision of Prof. Andrea Rocci.

Costanza holds a BA (2019) and a MA (2021) in Lingua, Letteratura e Civiltà italiana (Italian Language and Literature) from USI, and obtained the Alma Bacciarini Prize for the best graduate for both the BA and the MA. During her MA, she specialized in the study of linguistics, spending a semester abroad at the University of Neuchatel (CH).

Her research interests include the study of argumentation in context, in particular from a linguistic perspective, and her doctoral dissertation focuses on the argumentative role of evidentials in dialogues in financial communication.

In 2025, Costanza received the Frans van Eemeren Prize for Outstanding Student Paper at the European Conference on Argumentation for her paper “Extending the Notion of Argumentative Pattern”.
