Biography
Architect and engineer, Mattia Cocozza holds a PhD in Architectural Composition from the IUAV University of Venice.
He is Adjunct Professor of Architectural Design at the University of Naples Federico II.
In 2022, he curated a monographic exhibition dedicated to the relationship between the city of Naples and the architectural legacy of Stefania Filo Speziale, funded by the Italian Ministry of Culture in collaboration with Open House Italia.
He has participated in national PRIN research projects and regional research programs focused on the relationship between urban form, architectural heritage, and the design challenges posed by contemporary conditions.
His main research interests include: urban and architectural design as a critical tool for interpreting the city; the relationship between the legacy of modern architecture and the opportunities of contemporary design; infrastructures as operative figures within the landscape.
His most recent publications include: Napoli nei progetti di Stefania Filo Speziale (Quodlibet, Macerata, 2025); Spazi in attesa. Infrastrutture e architetture nei territori a rischio (with Francesco Viola, Clean, Naples, 2024); and Stefania Filo Speziale. Abitare la città mediterranea (Clean, Naples, 2022).
As an architect, Mattia Cocozza contributed to the 18th International Architecture Exhibition of Venice and has received awards in international architectural design competitions.
