Abstract
The ARGAGE conference (Feb 7-9 2018, www.argage2018.usi.ch) brings together 50 contributions by international researchers working on argumentation and language in the following areas: (1) Argumentation in spoken interaction (oral corpora), (2) Semantics and argumentation, (3) Argumentative indicators, (4) Corpora annotation and argumentation, and (5) Rhetorical devices. It is organized by a committee of Swiss scholars in argumentation. It aims to increase dialogue between different resesarch traditions (argumentaiton, linguistics, Discourse Analysis, Conversation Analysis, and computational sciences-argument mining) and different languages (EN/FR). It contributes to strenghten the position of Switzerland as a research hub for argumentation. The results of this conference will bring significant advances in the field of argumentation, concerning the many interfaces between argumentation and language, and in areas that will have promising developments. We plan to publish of the main results, in order to increase the impact of this scientific event.Because our aim is to increase dialogue among different approaches, this conference will provide plenty of time and space for discussion of the contributions. Chairs of regular sessions will be instructed to favour dialogue between traditions (including bilingual discussion EN/FR). PhD students and young scholars will be part of this ongoing dialogue.
