Abstract
Our project called “BBC” is a transnational and cross-sectoral initiative that aims to improve the quality and inclusiveness of STEM education and training at the K-12 level. The project involves teachers and school managers the K-12 level and preservice teacher trainers from different countries and backgrounds. Throughout the project, we also aim to evaluate progression and capture the level of maturity in gender diversity topic and advancement achieved by the participants.
The project revolves around workshops facilitated by colleagues with experience on the use of participatory design approach and the use of focus groups as methodology. Each workshop will focus on one level in K-12. These workshops
aim to (i) expand knowledge and expertise acquired in the KA220 (ii) give inspiration and share the best practices in how to have a gender-friendly environment in the classroom to raise awareness of STEM (iii) analyze progression and advancement.
Partners will implement a maturity scale for “Awareness of Gender Equality at K-12 Level” to identify baseline, and steps to conduct to achieve maturity. The first survey at the beginning of the project will be performed to capture how gender equality
and inclusion are understood and practiced in different schools. This survey will be applied to the teachers who are going to participate in the workshops. These results are aimed to be reported that will be accessible at the project webpage.
