Shuang Xie

Shuang Xie is a PhD candidate at the Institute of Management and Organization (IMO), Faculty of Economics, USI Lugano, working under the supervision of Prof. Emanuele LM Bettinazzi.
Her research explores the intersection of corporate strategy and organizational theory, with a main theoretical focus on how organizations' objectives and practices differentiate themselves from competitors while maintaining legitimacy to prime stakeholder attention and achieve favorable stakeholder evaluations—an emerging theme known as Optimal Distinctiveness, particularly within the context of corporate sustainability strategies. Empirically, her work relies on large-scale corporate-level data and natural language processing (NLP) techniques to study these organization–stakeholder dynamics.
Shuang holds a Bachelor of Science (BSc) and a Master of Science (MSc) in Management Science and Engineering from Tianjin University in China.
