Biografia
Federica Merlo is an assistant researcher at the Faculty of Biomedical Sciences of the Università della Svizzera italiana. She works as a social worker in a paediatric department where she assists children affected by severe disorders of consciousness and autism spectrum disorders.
She holds a master’s degree in Clinical Ethics and Medical Humanities (Scuola Universitaria Professionale della Svizzera Italiana) and a bachelor’s degree in Philosophy (Università degli studi, Milan). She is studying Philosophical Sciences at the Università degli studi in Milan.
Her research interests include ethics, consciousness and the clinical practice in health-related and paediatric contexts.
Currently, she is conducting qualitative researches on different topics such as fever phobia, clinical decision-making and the ethical dilemmas clinicians face when treating children with severe disorders of consciousness.
