Biografia

Rebecca Amati, PhD, is a Scientific Collaborator with five years of postdoctoral experience at the Institute of Public Health, Faculty of Biomedical Sciences, at Università della Svizzera italiana (USI). She is part of the Global Burden of Disease Collaborator Network as GBD Collaborator. She is now the Project Manager of CoPeC - Building Care Pathways for Dementia: An integrated and participatory approach to preserving autonomy. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she was the Project Manager of Corona Immunitas Ticino and the science communicator for the Italian version of the Science in a Minute YouTube series by the Swiss School of Public Health.

She holds a PhD in Health Communication from USI and a double Master’s degree in Communication, Management and Health (USI, Switzerland) and Business Administration (Virginia Tech, USA). She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences from the Catholic University of Milan (Italy), which included an Erasmus exchange in Madrid (Spain). Her international experience began in high school, when she spent a year in Seguin, Texas (USA), as part of an exchange student program.

Dr. Amati previously worked in the Quality and Communication Departments at Clinica Luganese Moncucco (2016-2018) and collaborated on research at the Department of Business Economics, Health, and Social Care (DEASS) at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland (SUPSI) (2019-2020).

Her research spans various public health topics, including health communication, dementia care, caregiver support, quality care improvement, epidemiology, and community-based participatory research. She is actively involved in curriculum development and teaching, lecturing at both the Master’s and PhD levels at USI and through the Swiss School of Public Health (SSPH+), where she is also a fellow.
