What is it to exist? To be? This course presents and evaluates some classic accounts of existence and some accounts, old and new, of so called modes of being. It then passes on to the question of the structure of reality. Is reality structured? If yes, how is it structured? The course discusses three approaches to the formal study of the structure of reality: mereology, location theory, and the theory of metaphysical ground.
Students will be evaluated based on a final research paper.
