Course Objectives
The goal of this course is to introduce the students to computational tools and basic principles of programming. The course will be taught in English. At the end of the course they should be able to solve simple econometric, financial, or economic problems using data analysis and numerical methods. This course builds on the material presented in Matematica I and Matematica II, Statistica I and Informatica I including matrix calculus, function optimization, simulation, and solving nonlinear equations.

6) Finding the best solution: Optimization

9) More than thousand words: Introduction to data visualization
10) All possibilities: Introduction to simulation
11) From A to Z: Writing an entire research report in R
Required Material
- “An Introduction to R”, available free of charge from cran.r-project.org/doc/manuals/R-intro.pdf
- Slides and sample programs will be distributed on the iCorsi platform.
- Students are invited to install R and Rstudio on their laptops, available free of charge from www.r-project.org and www.rstudio.com
