Biografia

A. Wahid Mehran is a Doctoral Assistant of Intercultural Communication in the Institute of Communication and Public Policy at Università della Svizzera italiana (USI). His current research focuses on diaspora identity formation in digital space. His research interests include diaspora, (digital) media, and cultural and political identity. 

Wahid holds a Master's degree in Mass Communication and Journalism from Gujarat University (India) as well as a B.A. in Media from Kabul University (Afghanistan). Before joining USI, he lectured bachelor's students of Communication Department at Kardan University in Kabul. He also taught Political Communication in the department of Bachelors in Political Science there. Moreover, he has been a Media Instructor in 'English for Journalists' program with U.S. Embassy in Kabul and worked as a Media Trainer in 'Peace Journalism' program led by Oslo-Metropolitan University of Norway in Kabul.

Furthermore, he worked as a T.V. Journalist in Mitra television network making news reports on political, social and cultural issues in Afghanistan. As a poet writing in Farsi/Dari, he is a member of Afghanistan PEN Association with links to Centro PEN della Svizzera italiana e retoromancia (CPSIR). In 2021, he co-translated a children’s book titled “Walking Together” by Louwrisa Blaauw into Farsi/Dari for Gahwara Online School. Wahid is fluent in Farsi/Dari, Pashto, English, Hindi, Urdu, and a beginner in Italian language.
