CAMPUS - Collaborative Action for Multidisciplinary Progress and Understanding of Sustainability

The overarching objective of CAMPUS is to establish a comprehensive institutional culture of sustainability in all university areas and at all university levels. The swissuniversities programme offers USI an opportunity to leverage the potential of recent institutional and students’ initiatives, namely the House of Sustainability, the empowered Sustainability Service, and SEEDS – Students Engaged in Environment, Development and Sustainability. The present project comprises two areas of action: (1) facilitating research by students on topics related to sustainability and (2) creation of new platforms and formats to foster a strengthened dialogue with society on sustainability issues, as a joint endeavour of USI faculty, USI collaborators, USI students, and external partners. The project is planned to take place within the framework of three complementary work packages: 

• WP 1 – Positive Impact Research Market, carried out in collaboration with Impact Hub Ticino and Social Business Earth, proposes to create and kick-start an online platform which facilitates student research on sustainability issues conducted in partnership with organisations and companies committed to sustainable development;
• WP 2 – Cultural Programme for the General Public and Schools, carried out in collaboration with external partners including ETH Zurich, aims to encourage public discussions about sustainable development using innovative approaches and languages;
• WP 3 – Sustainability University Week, organised by SEEDS with the support of USI and in collaboration with SUPSI, aims to promote sustainability in all its dimensions by means of training and dissemination events.
