Abstract

The Open Science I Phase B – Open Research Data (ORD) program is a national funding program that was handed over to the Swiss Rectors' Conference swissuniversities for implementation as part of the federal project-related contributions in accordance with the HFKG. It is based on the Swiss National Strategy for Open Research Data (ORD) and the associated ORD Action Plan of November 17, 2021. Research data management (RDM) refers to the professional and comprehensible organization and handling of research data throughout its entire life cycle. As such, it is an integral part of the research process and a central element in the implementation of the ORD approach.

For example, research funders now also require data management plans for the projects they support. The measure C2 Training researchers for RDM and ORD Practices of the ORD action plan therefore aims to promote the training and further education of students and researchers in research data management at Swiss universities.

In order to implement this line of action, the present mandate is intended to create the basis for further activities and measures in the period 2025-2028 in a first step by mid-2025. All types of universities must be taken into account, as well as the existing data steward and RDM networks.
