Biography

Dr. Angela Windholz obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree from the Accademia di Belle Arti in Rome before pursuing further studies at the Humboldt University Berlin, where she completed her Master of Arts and PhD in Art History. She was awarded a doctoral scholarship by the Bibliotheca Hertziana in Rome (Max Planck Institute for Art History), as well as two postdoctoral scholarships: one from the Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florence (Max Planck Institute) and one from the Getty Research Institute in Los Angeles. In 2008, she was appointed as a scientific collaborator on the SNSF project concerning the archive of Heinrich von Offenberg. In 2010, she was appointed Head Librarian at the Accademia di architettura library. In 2016, she obtained a diploma from the Vatican School of Library and Information Science. Her research focuses on the history of art academies and the training of artists and architects in the modern age, a topic she has addressed in numerous publications. In 2023, she was awarded a "Curatorial Fellowship" at the Bibliotheca Hertziana in Rome (Max Planck Institute for Art History).

Since 2016, she has served on the steering committee of the CNBA (Coordinamento Nazionale delle Biblioteche di Architettura).
