Introduction to BIM
People
Description
BIM is the combination of CAD geometry with additional information about building parts, e.g. material, costs, structural and energy data. In the coming years BIM will be the new standard tool for architects and professionals related to the building industry, as CAD took over hand drafting thirty years ago. Already today, public projects in Denmark, the UK and Hong Kong are required to be designed and planned with BIM.
BIM concepts are introduced along real-world examples through a series of lectures that include but are not limited to topics such as: BIM as a design tool; BIM for ecological sustainability; BIM and AI; BIM project setup; BIM collaboration workflows; BIM for digital fabrication. Additionally, the course offers a tutorial series in Revit that teaches BIM fundamentals along an exercise project.
Objectives
The course introduces BIM (Building Information Modeling) as a creative tool that accompanies the architect from conceptual design to execution.
