Description
The main objective of this course is to provide an introduction to interpersonal communication, defined as “the mutual exchange of messages and behaviors that eventuate to mutual influence” (Berger, 2014, p. 9), with a particular focus on the domain of health settings. Upon successful completion of the class, students will be familiar with several theoretical frameworks of provider-patient interaction, with empirical knowledge regarding the effect of communication skills as well as with a set of analytical tools for the analysis of successful and unsuccessful communication practices in the health domain.
