Description

The course explains how information systems have evolved over time and how ERPs represent the result of a continuous and still ongoing functional integration process. A review of the literature of the information perspective of organizational theory provides a framework to understand the organizational change caused by ERP projects. Then, the course discusses the core functional areas of ERP systems - Marketing and Sales, Supply Chain Management, Accounting and Finance, Human Resources - and their respective core business processes. Extended functionalities and current trends complement the course.

Objectives

The objective of this course is to provide a functional map of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems to enable the student to understand if ERP technology could be applied to a given business context and, if yes, which specific modules could produce tangible impact on business performance.
