Description
Reasoning, learning and searching for new information are key factors in any modern computer system. The aim of this course is to explore in depth advanced search and meta-heuristics algorithms useful in solving problems of increasing complexity. We investigate biological inspired methodologies like simulated annealing, genetic algorithms and ant colony optimization in combination with more traditional tools like local search and tabu search. The course presents practical exercises and helps the student to understand how to solve real life problems with examples and industrial cases. The course involves reading and understanding cutting-edge articles in this field.
