Biography

After a Bachelor's (Univ. Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Milano) and Master’s degree (USI, Lugano – Alma Bacciarini prize) in Italian Literature and Philology, in May 2016 Francesca Galli obtained her Ph.D. from USI, under the supervision of Prof. Corrado Bologna (thesis in Medieval Literature and Philology; title: «Critical and commented edition of De luce by Bartolomeo from Bologna OFM»).

She is interested in: Medieval optics and Lichtmetaphysik; the preaching of Mendicant Orders and didactic literature in XIIIth-XIVth c.; interactions between science and literature; relationships between words and images (allegorization of matter, the use of pictures and diagrams by preachers as mnemonic tools); cultural, religious and philosophical context of Dante’s works.

Progetto di ricerca Balzan Postdoctoral Scholarship (Premio 2016 a Piero Boitani): Dar forma all'Empireo. Creazioni letterarie e figurative di età medievale;
