Simone Garlandini


I’m a geographer with a focus on GIS and data science, cartography and spatial/territorial development.

I graduated in geography and I completed a Master ‘s degree in Geographical Information Science at the University of Zurich (UZH). I recently received a doctoral degree (PhD) in Architecture and Sciences of the city from the Swiss federal institute of technology in Lausanne (EPFL), advised by Jacques Lévy and Gian Paolo Torricelli. My thesis is entitled “Small City Public Space”.

Since 2009 I’m based at the Academy of architecture (University of Lugano) where I’m teaching assistant for the courses Urban Geography and Spatial Development; and scientific advisor for the Osservatorio dello sviluppo territoriale.

I’m 35 years old and I live in Ascona (Ticino, Switzerland).
