Biography

Marcello Foa is born in Milan  in 1963. Degree in Political science, university of Milan. Swiss and italian citizenship. He is currently the President of RAI

He started his journalistic career in Lugano in 1984 in Gazzetta Ticinese and Giornale del Popolo, two swiss local daily newspapers; then in 1989, he became deputy foreign editor and in 1993 foreign editor at daily italian newspaper il Giornale, founded and managed at that time by Indro Montanelli. He has been columnist and special correspondent for international affairs. He contributed to many tv and radio networks in different countries.

From 2011 to 2018 he has been Ceo of Corriere del Ticino Group in Lugano. In 2018 he became chairman of RAI, is the national public italian broadcasting.

Beyond his journalistic career, he founded in 2004, with professor Stephan Russ-Mohl, the European journalism observatory (EJO). He currently lectures international journalism influence in internation affairs at Università della Svizzera italiana, in Lugano.

He is the authot of 2 books on political spin and media manipulation

He has focused his accademic research on political spin and media manipulation since 2002. He has written a book on spin doctoring: “Gli stregoni della notizia” (2006) and “Gli stregoni della notizia. Atto II” (marzo 2018). He published two novels: “Il ragazzo del lago” (2010) e “Il bambino invisibile” (2012.
