Biography
Prof. François Degeorge holds a Senior Chair from the Swiss Finance Institute, of which he is also the Managing Director. He is a former Dean of the Faculty of Economics and a former President of the European Finance Association. His research in finance has been published in leading academic journals, including the Journal of Finance, the Journal of Financial Economics and the Review of Financial Studies. Before teaching at USI he has taught at HEC Paris, where he also served as Associate Dean for Research. He has been a visiting professor at the Tuck School of Business (Dartmouth), at Université Paris-Dauphine, and at the Saïd Business School (Oxford). He holds a "grande école" degree from HEC Paris and a PhD from Harvard University, where he was a Fulbright Scholar and an Arthur Sachs Scholar. He has received the following awards: 2016 Past President Award, European Finance Association; 2014 WRDS Outstanding Empirical Paper Award at the Southern Finance Association; FMA Best Paper in Corporate Finance (2013), EFMA Best Paper Award (2013), AFFI Best Paper Award (2012), Banque Privée Espirito Santo/Swiss Finance Institute Research Prize (2009), Credit Suisse Teaching Award (2005-2006), SWX Best Paper Award (2006), Merton Miller Prize (2000); Inquire Europe First Prize (1998 and 2003); the HEC Foundation Prize in 1994; and in 1993 he was nominated for the Smith Breeden Prize. Prof. Degeorge serves on the executive committee of the European Finance Association, the advisory board of Ticino for Finance, and the scientific council of Institut Paris-Europlace.
