Abstract

The project "Friendly Resources for Playful Speech Therapy" (FREPY) intends to produce learning didactic tools to help children with language impairment (LI) improve their communication skills. These tools will be interactive and multi-functional intervention resources for speech therapy, produced in German, Lithuanian, Estonian, and Slovenian. They will be available either in print or online. They aim at improving language skills in children aged 5 to 8 and applicable individually or in groups.
The University of Lugano and in particular its Institute of Health and Communication (IHC) will take part in these informal tests to learn the conditions for a more formal testing of the resources towards the end of the procedure. Tests will focus on language skills. The tools will be translated from German into Italian for testing purposes and distributed and tested among eligible participants in the Italian-speaking part of Switzerland or in northern Italy. Measuring instruments will be developed and coordinated among participants in English and translated into Italian before used with respondents. The data will be gathered, cleaned and analyzed in Lugano. The results will be used to make concrete suggestions for improving the resources, that is: delete unnecessary or ineffective parts, make additions to improve performance, change parts with deficits.
