Biography
Jeanne Mengis is a Professor in Organizational Communication at the Università della Svizzera italiana (USI), director of the Institute of Marketing and Communication Management (IMCA), and a Honorary Professor at Warwick Business School, UK.
In her research, she studies interdisciplinary collaboration, knowledge work, organizational learning, managerial attention, innovation and organizational space and works with a process and practice theoretical perspective having a particular interest in how communication and materiality (i.e. artefacts, space) come together in organizational phenomena. Her communicative vantage point privileges a relational account of organizations through which she analyses the multiple spatiotemporal and sociomaterial processes that make up organizations. Her projects are based empirically within creative industries, healthcare, and construction.
She published her work in papers such as Organization Science, Organization Studies, Organizational Research Methods, Organization, Strategic Organization, Management Learning, or Social Science & Medicine.
Prior to her current engagement, she was a visiting researcher at Harvard Kennedy School (Harvard University), Boston University Questrom School of Management and at Warwick Business School.
Jeanne has teaching experience at a PhD, master, executive master and bachelor level, taught at the universities of Warwick (UK), Lucerne, St.Gallen, Lausanne, and at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich. She occasionally conducts executive teaching, leads student-driven advisory projects for organizations like Hugo Boss, Lindt & Sprüngli, Postfinance, Skyguide, Sintetica, and is the president of an administrative council.
