Sommario
This study explores sustainable building refurbishment by reusing granular construction demolition waste on-site, delving into the urgency of adopting sustainable practices, such as deconstruction over demolition. The “Reclaiming Resources” approach views buildings as quarries of materials, focusing on granular demolition waste. The Diantus building acts as a basis for experimentation in a teaching setup, where design possibilities are explored by scanning, evaluating, extracting, and processing materials to reuse for on-site construction. In this study, we explored the reuse of demolition waste from removed walls to create openings for new building functions, demonstrating its potential for integration into new constructions. The project highlighted practical applications and the use of digital tools for more sustainable refurbishment.
