Biography

Mariya Andreeva is a PhD student at the Institute of Management and Organization (IMO) at the Faculty of Economics at USI. Mariya’s research interest is in Sustainable Development using System Dynamics approach. In particular, her research focuses on the interlinkages between the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and how these interlinkages affect the simultaneous achievement of multiple SDGs. She is also interested in organizational learning and decision-making and in particular decisions that affect long-term payoffs.

Mariya holds a Master of Science (MSc) in Management from Università della Svizzera italiana (USI). In her master’s thesis she investigated the effects of the increase in housing units in the US urban sprawl on wildfire occurrence and management, using Systems Thinking and System Dynamics. This work won the Best Master’s Thesis of the Master’s in Management award provided by Associazione svizzera dei quadri (ASQ) in 2019. Mariya holds a Double Bachelor of Arts Degree in International Business from Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge, UK and Hogeschool Zuyd, Maastricht, the Netherlands.
