Biography
Jeanne Mengis is a Professor in Organizational Communication at the Università della Svizzera italiana (USI), director of the Institute of Marketing and Communication Management (IMCA), and a Honorary Professor at Warwick Business School, UK.
In her research, she studies interdisciplinary collaboration, knowledge work, organizational learning, innovation and organizational space and works with a process and practice theoretical perspective having a particular interest in how communication and materiality (i.e. artefacts, space) come together in organizational phenomena. Her communicative vantage point privileges a relational account of organizations and analyses the multiple spatiotemporal and sociomaterial processes make up organizations. Her projects are based empirically within creative industries, healthcare, and construction.
From 2012 to 2014, she has been Associate Dean of undergraduate studies at the Faculty of Communication Studies at USI.
She published her work in papers such as Organization Science, Organization Studies, Organizational Research Methods, Organization, Management Learning, or Social Science & Médicine.
Prior to her current engagement, she was a post-doctoral visiting fellow at Warwick Business School and Boston University Questrom School of Management and a visiting fellow at the Harvard Kennedy School, Harvard University. She received her Ph.D in February 2007 from the USI, Lugano (awarded with summa cum laude).
Jeanne has teaching experience at a PhD, master, executive master and bachelor level, taught at the universities of Warwick (UK), Lucerne, St.Gallen, Lausanne, and at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich and conducts executive training.
