Deborah Moccetti Bernasconi

Deborah Moccetti Bernasconi is an independent family doctor in Lugano, where she has been managing a general internal medicine practice since 2001.

She graduated in human medicine at the University of Zürich in 1993 and she obtained the MD degree the following year. After various professional experiences, she achieved the FMH specialty in Internal medicine in 1999 and the FMH certification in Psychosomatic and Psychosocial medicine in 2005. For over 20 years, she worked once a week in the outpatient department at the Istituto Cardiocentro Ticino.

Her main focus is on the doctor-patient relationship and the human aspects surrounding it. She collaborates as vice president with the working group at the Ente autonomo Lugano Istituti Sociali, which oversees six nursing homes and four nursery schools in the city and is also a member of SCUDO the public regional home care service. She is committed to promoting quality and ensuring adequate care.

Believing in the value of continuous education, she has mentored medical students from across Switzerland in family medicine for many years. She was elected to the city council of Lugano, served on various commissions for 13 years, and continues to represent the city as substitute municipal deputy.

In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her partner Giacomo and her two children, Alessandro and Tito. She participates in various sports to stay fit and relieve stress and she has a passion for reading and cinema.
