Description

This course introduces the key concepts that guide our understanding of "good" and "bad" interpersonal communication in healthcare settings. The course integrates the most current empirical knowledge from communication science and healthcare research with the primary goals of developing students' abilities to (1) understand and speak the language of the interpersonal communication discipline, (2) describe the complex nature of healthcare communication, and (3) define key terms used by interpersonal communication researchers and healthcare practitioners to identify safe and high-quality care.
